PRESS RELEASE- LAVA’S RESPONSE TO THE ADVOCATE

by Chris Flowers
Louisiana Vaping Association For Immediate Release 6/13/17 Re: The Advocate Misleads Readers on Public Health The Louisiana Vaping Association(LAVA) encourages smokers to use any means available on the market to help quit traditional tobacco cigarettes. We stand with Our Lady of the Lake’s Smoking Cessation Program as a means to help adults who smoke quit, but unwarranted biased attacks against our industry will not be met with silence. As the representative of the vapor industry in the State of Louisiana, LAVA would be at fault if we did not try and educate on the complete misrepresentation of the vaping industry [...]

LAVA believes that if the rules go into effect after the FDA’s standard 90 day waiting period, it could spell the end of the young vaping industry.   LAVA is made up of retail shops across Louisiana who [...]

LDR SHAKEDOWN AT VPX NOLA

by admin
VPX NOLA, presented by the ECC, turned out to be a tremendous success. I know this because I was there. The turnout was awesome – with around 500 vendors and over 3,000 attendees – the atmosphere was lively – with a mini parade rolling its way throughout the pathways between booths around halls H, I, and J of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, and the presentation by all parties was dramatically and overly on point. Looking at it as a spectator, it was difficult to see anything other than a typical New Orleans throw-down. The VPX did [...]

FDA SUBMITS FINAL DRAFT OF DEEMING REGULATIONS TO WHITE HOUSE

by admin
The FDA has submitted the Final Draft of their Deeming Regulations to the White House’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA). This represents the eighth step in the nine-step rulemaking process. Following the OIRA/White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) review, the ninth and final step is for the FDA to issue its finalized regulations to the public. Unlike the FDA, which considers public health, the White House review seeks to ensure the regulations align with the president’s agenda and looks at the costs and benefits of the proposed regulations. As such, proposed regulations can be significantly changed [...]

LAECR PUBLIC STATEMENT ON ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE TAX

by admin
May 22, 2015 Louisiana Association of Electronic Cigarette Retailers Public Statement on Electronic Cigarette Tax We believe that any taxation of electronic cigarettes or their components is both unfair and undue. A tax would increase prices to a point that we (Louisiana business owners) would not be able to compete with interstate commerce, that would not be subject to these taxes, and would put an unfair burden on our businesses. Louisiana has long said publicly that it wants people to quit smoking. Louisiana has long said publicly that it wants small businesses to create jobs and revenue. We believe that [...]

LAECR PUBLIC STATEMENT ON SMOKING BANS

by admin
May 21, 2015 Louisiana Association of Electronic Cigarette Retailers Public Statement on Smoking Bans We understand that electronic cigarettes are a relatively new product and that these products are sometimes misunderstood in their exact function. Fortunately studies are being done to prove that these products are tremendously different and that the health effects as compared to smoking are negligible. To date, LAECR has opposed two smoking bans in the state of Louisiana. We would really rather support smoking bans. Unfortunately, these bans have included electronic cigarettes and we feel that a ban including vaping is a disservice to the public [...]

E-CIGARETTE RETAILERS HELP TO SHOOT DOWN BAN THAT WOULD INCLUDE VAPING

by admin
May 19. 2015 LAFAYETTE, LA Lafayette’s parish council proposed a smoking ban that would include electronic cigarettes, and LAECR (Louisiana Association of Electronic Cigarette Retailers) was there to defend the rights of those who use, as well as those who sell electronic cigarettes. The group, located largely in the New Orleans area, says that they are ready to defend the rights of electronic cigarette users across the state. Two members of LAECR’s board, on short notice, traveled to Lafayette from New Orleans to argue that electronic cigarette use has no place in a smoking ban. “When you’re using an electronic [...]

PUBLIC STATEMENT REGARDING NEW ORLEANS SMOKING BAN

by admin
Today the New Orleans City Council took an important step in reducing tobacco cigarette usage among our citizens and visitors.  Unfortunately, in doing so, they actively ignored the science showing that electronic cigarettes are fundamentally different products; and require fundamentally different treatment. Councilmember Cantrell’s initial draft of the statute would have put local electronic cigarette purveyors out of business.  LAECR appreciates that she admitted the oversight and made small concessions to remedy it.  The changes, however, do not go nearly far enough, and treating these products as equivalent will discourage smokers from trying this important alternative. The major result of [...]
